WELCOME

Regardless of your background, you are welcome to ASCEND!

WHO WE ARE...

ASCEND Community Partners is a 501c(3) non-profit educational rehabilitation organization. We assist individuals who suffer from low literacy or lack the strong ability to read, write and spell. ASCEND collaboratively works to help mend literacy skills that may have been lost or underdeveloped during a person’s educational development process. Our mission is to abolish the repressive stigmas that are frequently associated with an individual’s inability to read, write and spell. Our vision is to establish programs that assist individuals in building skills and relationships that lead to better jobs, a better way of life, and a community of more self-confident, self-improved citizens.

ABOUT ASCEND

Low literacy is a concealed state of affairs. It cannot be identified by gender, race or economic status nor educational achievements. There are people with academic degrees and leaders in their profession who suffer from the inability to read, write and spell. We're not simply looking to appease, we're looking to empower.

Despite an individual background, if he or she desires to learn, we desire to teach them. Though our services are primarily available to individuals living in economically disadvantaged communities within the Maryland and DC areas, at no cost, we endeavor to serve each and every individual who approaches our organization with consistent dignity and respect, regardless of their race, background, or economic status.

As of today, ASCEND has served individuals from as young as 6 years old to as senior as 80 years old, who were deprived or restricted of their opportunity to learn due to circumstances frequently beyond their control.
